Varanasi is inspired by my trip to India in 2017. It tells the story of what remains in India in my heart, mind, soul, and nose. Varanasi is a sacred place full of contrasts and meanings. I composed this fragrance allowing myself to be guided by the visceral emotion of feeling the sacred waters of the Ganges in my hand. I tried to search my olfactory memory and found the source from which everything was created.
Varanasi is an olfactory mandala, where the aquatic, animalic, and visceral notes of grey amber embrace our soul. The ritual begins with warm, red spicy notes of saffron, nutmeg, and cardamom. A stunning approach to the floral heart, amulets of rose and jasmine, a dusty, woody body of ambrette and cypriol. Like covered in white ash, the ritual takes shape among the sacred notes of nard, incense, and gurjum.
Fragrance becomes a magical experience, without compromise. A swirling hymn rises in the Varanasi night, the temple, the wandering shadows, the oud, the vetiver, a mysterious leather chord, enveloping our bodies. Sounds of unknown instruments. On the lazy river, dawn comes, Varanasi is the place where the spirituality of man transcends. Where souls will seek refuge. Varanasi is a magnetic scent.
